MUN RULES AND AGENDA

MUN Rules:
Dress Code: Delegates are usually expected to dress in professional
attire, resembling diplomats or representatives at a real UN
conference.
Respectful Conduct: Participants are expected to maintain decorum
and engage in respectful behavior. This includes addressing each
other formally, respecting speaking time, and avoiding disruptive
behavior.
Research and Preparation: Delegates are required to thoroughly
research their assigned country or character, understand their position
on various issues, and prepare speeches and resolutions accordingly.
Committee Sessions: MUN conferences are divided into committees,
each focusing on specific topics. Delegates discuss, debate, and work
towards solutions during committee sessions.
Speaking Rules: Delegates are given speaking time to express their
country's or character's stance on the issues. Points of order, motions,
and other parliamentary procedures are followed.
Resolution Writing: Delegates collaborate to draft resolutions that
propose solutions to the issues at hand. Resolutions are debated and
voted on by the committee.
Voting: Delegates vote on resolutions, and sometimes on procedural
matters. A resolution typically needs a majority or a two-thirds majority
to pass, depending on the rules of the conference.

MUN Agenda:
Topic Selection: MUN conferences have a predetermined set of
topics that each committee will address. These topics are related to
global issues, and delegates must prepare to discuss and propose
solutions.
Committee Structure: Each committee is organized around a specific
theme or UN body. For example, Security Council, General Assembly,
Human Rights Council, etc.
Position Papers: Delegates are often required to submit position
papers before the conference, outlining their country's stance on the
agenda topics.
Opening Ceremony: MUN conferences typically begin with an
opening ceremony where organizers welcome participants, explain
rules, and set the tone for the conference.
Committee Sessions: The bulk of the conference involves committee
sessions where delegates discuss, debate, and negotiate to address
the agenda topics.
Closing Ceremony: The conference concludes with a closing
ceremony where awards may be given, and delegates reflect on the
experience.
